CASE STUDIES

UBS/Mercedes Petronas F1 VIP Event

Monaco History Opening Film

BRIEFING

A new client approached us, referred by a trusted contact, to create a 10-minute opening film for a VIP Formula 1 event in Monaco, hosted by USB and Mercedes Petronas. The event, packed with F1 legends and high-profile attendees, aimed to celebrate Monaco’s history and Formula 1 milestones with a 007 theme. Building on this strong and specific brief, we developed the visual narrative and motion graphics almost entirely from scratch.

CHALLENGES

  • Crafting a piece that sustained attention and energy for the full 10 minutes while balancing pace, variety, and transitions.

  • Creating visually distinct title sequences for each decade, inspired by iconic 007 designs, while maintaining a cohesive narrative.

  • Delivering a polished audiovisual experience that matched the sophistication of the event.

SOLUTION

  • Styled each era’s visuals and motion graphics after the most famous 007 title sequences, with unique transitions and era-appropriate design elements.

  • Built a team of 10 specialists, including 3D artists, 2D motion designers, and a sound designer, to produce a cinematic and immersive piece.

  • Directed the creative process to balance dynamic visuals and pacing, ensuring the audience remained engaged throughout the 10-minute film.

OUTCOME

The film held the audience’s attention, energising the event and seamlessly transitioning guests into the evening’s celebrations. The client praised its impact, and legendary driver Jackie Stewart personally requested a copy, calling it “brilliant.” The project was a standout success, enhancing the prestige of the event and leaving a lasting impression.

Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Grand Ole Opry

Motion Graphics for NBC

BRIEFING

We were approached by a major production company to create motion graphics for a live event celebrating Dolly Parton’s 50th anniversary as an artist at the iconic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. The event, broadcast on NBC, featured performances and tributes to Dolly’s illustrious career and was viewed by millions across America.

CHALLENGES

  • Designing graphics that aligned with the bold and impactful visual style often associated with American television.

  • Creating a cohesive set of elements, including title sequences, placeholders, and lower thirds, that enhanced both the live experience and the broadcast version.

  • Ensuring all visuals complemented the prestigious nature of the event while capturing Dolly’s unique energy and personality.

SOLUTION

  • Designed a sparkling, high-impact title sequence that reflected the grandeur of Dolly’s milestone and aligned with the American visual aesthetic.

  • Developed dynamic lower thirds, animated placeholders, and other inside-program graphics for seamless integration across big screens at the venue and full-screen displays in the broadcast.

  • Worked closely with the production team to ensure all visuals met the brief and maintained visual consistency throughout the event.

OUTCOME

Our graphics played a prominent role in both the live event and the NBC broadcast, elevating the overall production value. They were displayed on large screens during the concert and featured full-screen during the televised version. All stakeholders, including the production company and Dolly Parton herself, were highly impressed with the results.

The Faking Dead

Dynamic Motion Graphics for True Crime Series

BRIEFING

We collaborated with Man Alive Entertainment to create dynamic motion graphics for The Faking Dead, a gripping four-episode true crime series exclusively on Discovery+. The series delves into the astonishing stories of four men who faked their deaths and assumed new identities, requiring visuals that could enhance and amplify the storytelling.

CHALLENGES

  • Designing an intro sequence that encapsulated the theme of identity and transformation.

  • Creating cohesive and engaging graphics to illustrate complex narratives, including global movements, timelines, and key events.

  • Balancing the dark, unusual tone of the series with visually captivating elements.

SOLUTION

  • Conceptualised and designed a 15-second intro card inspired by a passport, symbolising identity changes. The design evolved dynamically, mimicking the transformation of identities with shifting text and visuals.

  • Produced 30-50 supporting graphics, including dynamic maps to chart global escapades, article-inspired visuals for news moments, and intricate timelines to track twists and turns.

  • Ensured the graphics seamlessly integrated with the series’ aesthetic, elevating the storytelling while maintaining visual coherence across all episodes.

OUTCOME

The motion graphics received praise for their creativity and impact from both the Discovery+ team and the production company, setting the tone for each episode and enhancing the storytelling. The passport-inspired intro became a standout feature, perfectly capturing the theme of transformation. However, due to issues between the production company and Discovery+, the release of the programme is currently on hold, and audience reception is yet to be determined.
